I know that birds will sometimes play injured to lead predator away from young.
Again I go in / out this door 20 / 30 x per day so I do not believe tonight should have been any different. Therefore that the bird was flying in circles / figure 8s for several seconds, then limping around on porch 20 minutes later.
when my actions today are really no different than any other day...
leads to believe bird in wounded or special situation exits tonight.

Do I move the nest into the box? Secure it in a corner with bailing wire / coat hanger?
I am guessing tonight Garage with nest in box. Then tomorrow I can open the box a bit to allow the bird movement. then eventually move the box out to High spot on front porch so it can return to a normalcy
Opened my front door 1 hour ago and a bird was flying back and forth on front porch seemingly stuck or without direction, just back and forth. So I closed the door and looked out the window from the DARK kitchen with the porch light on. Therefore the bird should not have seen me looking stealthily out the window to see.
The bird sat there up high on a bookshelf, not moving, for 10 minutes. So I turned off the Porch light.
If the bird was ok it would have gone back to the nest? behind the wreath on the outside of the front door?
Bird did not goto nest
Ten Minutes ago I opened the door to go lock my car, now the bird is FLOUNDERING around on the GROUND. Then hiding in a nook.
So I get a box and toss in 100 chipped sunflower seeds and 3 pasta sauce type lids of water. 10 napkins. Cup bird in hand place in box.
Which brings us to NOW.
No bird is tending nest.
Should I put nest in box secured with Coat hanger or bailing wire? so bird can nest?
Place in garage? (we have 2 adventurous climbing cats in house)
I could put bird in nest... but if it can't or won't go into nest now... or can't fly. then it might starve?
Today the NEST has NEW lining and 2 small white eggs. Finch? no I think it's a Pine Siskin
7 days ago this happened also. I put bird in box. Daytime. after it had 2 hours to eat and hydrate I opened the box. The bird was standing upright. looked ok.
Later bird still there. Later Bird gone. Seems to have jumped out.
Identified / discovered nest at that time with NO eggs.
So this now is either
